Corokia x virgata (Hybrid Wire Netting bush)

This is a charmingly unconventional, evergreen shrubby plant from New Zealand. Tiny green, silvery leaves are held on bright silver-grey new growth above a tangle of the older zig-zag chocolate brown stems. In early summer it can be smothered in tiny five pointed yellow flowers, and then these are followed by orangey red berries- who saw that coming!?

Random would be the most obvious word to describe the habit of this unusual evergreen shrub from New Zealand. Grows to 5ft after about 6 years and has copious quantities of little yellow flowers in summer.
The branches twist and turn but the plant can be clipped to any shape yet retain its twisty turny look.
Any reasonably well drained soil but plenty of light.
Propagated by us from cuttings.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
