Hardiness level Green
An unusual and quite beautiful matt-forming evergreen shrub with teeny tiny evergreen leaves that are very prettily veined. It has a growth habit that we’ve described as ‘choppy Solent’. Or perhaps ‘Stiff peaks’...that meringue moment when you’re brave enough to hold the bowl, tipped, over your head. This hardy groundcover plant from China won’t get above 1 metre or so in height and left to its own devices (do leave it) will whip itself into incredible forms that lap up against any obstacle and envelop them like waves. A very striking effect, and it will happen effortlessly. It’ll get taller if allowed to clamber. And it will clamber up and over anything: we have some cladding the shaggy bases of a Trachycarpus grove and the partnership is both surreal and stunning. It's never met a wall it couldn't make friends with…and then engulf. Perfect for disguising any old lumps and bumps (in your garden) and will bring year-round interest to any space.
Will grow in any soil and seems to thrive from sun to semi shade but, frankly, manages anywhere.
