Climbers

We choose our climbers for their vigorous growth, vertical inclination, floriferous-ness and fragrance. You might be on the immediate hunt for our Clematis armandii but also consider our Holboellia latifolia as well. A worthy equal, if a little less hardy, but with the additional merit of forming dense foliage at the bottom as well as reaching for the sky. Trachelospermum jasminodies is another of our flowering and versatile stalwarts. It’s an industrious self-twining climber that will attach to absolutely anything. It also masquerades very well as a hedge – and why not. Our climbers can solve your screening conundrums quickly, but you can also be very creative with them. With the support of various types of trellis there is enormous potential to create hidden areas of intrigue and shade for plants that you might otherwise dismiss. One of our customers recently created a wind break of strapping to protect a secret garden of tender exotics which he then disguised with the copious tumbling green leaves of our Clematis armandii; the delightfully soft fragrance from the large star-shaped flowers adding a further wave of enchantment when we visited in July.
