Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Gorizia’ is a giant of a rosemary, this is a plant to remember! Imagine a tall upright specimen, covered in those classic blue rosemary flowers but standing a whopping 1.5m in height and up to a metre across. It was discovered in 1986 in Gorizia which is a town in northeastern Italy at the foot of the Julian Alps, (which I now know to be a beautiful wild area lying between Italy and Slovenia and named for Gaius Julius Caesar.)  Like all rosmaries it thrives in full sun and on well drained soils, it can be clipped, so can be used for hedging, or grown as a freestanding shrub. Bees love the flowers, cooks love the leaves, and barbeque chefs love using the strong, straight stems for skewers.
