Pinus mugo ‘Uncinata’ at Architectural Plants is like all Pinus mugo: Evergreen, hardy mountain pines. They thrive in sunny open positions and are completely untroubled by strong winds. Pinus mugo ‘Uncinata’ are tough trees that thrive on poor, and sharply draining soils.
Classed as a subspecies of Pinus mugo, this form can achieve the stature of a full sized tree at 25m in height. The head is dense and rounded, the branches often curved, as are the cones with clusters of needles that grow to about 6cm. There are scattered populations of this beautiful Pyrenean Pine in northeast Spain, the western alps and the Jura Mountains.
