Evergreen trunk forming plant with long strappy leaves, originating in the regions of Puebla and Oaxaca in Mexico. As it ages, the base becomes woody and swollen developing the classic ponytail palm structure.

Best in full sun in well drained soil. Water thoroughly but infrequently in summer and keep dry in the winter.
