A beautiful bamboo from Jiuzhaigou Park in Sichuan, China. Upright growth as a young plant but gently arches with age. The culms emerge red, maturing to green. It's evergreen and can grow to 3m over a couple of decades.

Fargesias love moisture so grow in a goo dloamy or clay soil but not a bog! Not generally regarded as invasive butit is best to surround with a bamboo barrier or grow in a large pot. Never allow the plant to dry out or it will die.
