Medium-sized, pollution-tolerant decidous oak with unusual foliage, originallt from North America. The leaves are deeply cut with pointed lobes. In the autumn they turn fiery red and orange. Ultimate height over 12m in 50 years.
Full sun or partial shade, any aspect, shallow rootball in moist but well drained soil. Young trees exhibit marcescence, ie retains some of the dead leaves through the winter.
