Heptacodium miconioides (Seven Son Flower of Zhejang)

A beautiful hardy, deciduous, upright, large shrub or small tree with arching branches and pale peeling bark, growing to 6m and originally from China. The curved, veined leaves are rolled to inwards to expose the paler underneath. From late summer to late autumn it carries panicles of scented white flowers, with the massed pink or red sepals remaining for some time afterwards.
Atree of scrub , woodland edges, or cliff faces, they are happy on moist but well drained soil. Best positioned with shelter from the cold north winds. Can be pruned if needed.
