Chamaecyparis obtusa (Hinoki Cypress)
From 34.00 incl. VAT
An elegant pyramidal golden form of Chamaecyparis, this tree can reach 7m in height with a broad 4m to 5m base. The thick and scaly leaves form fan-like structures that create the classic billowing shapes of Chamaecyparis.
Hardiness level Green
The foliage is a butter yellow in colour and is brightest in full sun, but it can grow well in partial shade. It is hardy and easy to grow. Plant in moist-but-well-drained soil. It can tolerate mildly alkaline soils but does better in soil conditions that are on the acid side of neutral. Young growth can be pruned lightly with secateurs during the winter, but only if needed and with care as the plant will not regrow from old wood.
Plant in fertile soil and water until established, but be careful not to leave the plant in sodden soil. Once established, it will only need an occasional water in a dry summer.
