Pinus parviflora ‘Blue Angel’

As the name indicates, this is a pine with gorgeous silvery-blue-green needles which are slightly flexed, adding a softness to the tree’s appearance. The needles are densely clustered giving a beautiful accent or focal point for your garden.
One of the Japanese White Pines, this is a specimen for a sunny spot in the garden, it is hardy and easy to grow. Like all pines it needs a well drained soil on the acid side of neutral. It grows slowly, but over time the tree could reach 3m or 4m in height.
If you love the plant but don’t want something of that size in your garden, then you could always utilise and enhance the natural shape of the plant which actually lends itself to Niwaki. With a little judicious pruning, training and time, this could become your very own Japanese delight.
