Hakonechloa macra
The name gives away its preferred position – Forest Grass. Best in shade. It’s elegant, well behaved and hardy and an unusual ground cover to grow under trees and raised shrubs. The leaves are bamboo like and the flower spikes are unostentatious and reminiscent of Luzula – the European Woodrush that enjoys similar conditions.
