Homegrown Propagation Course Ticket: Thursday 6th August 2026. Join our propagation experts, Alex & Ieuan, at our nursery from 9am to 1pm for a highly edifying and hands-on beginner course discovering how to propagate a spectrum of exciting plants you can grow at home to enliven your garden. A delicious lunch, wine and refreshments will be served by The Secret Sussex Supper Club at 1pm. Tickets are priced at £195.00 per person.

We have our own style and a wealth of knowledge which we have gained through 30 years of experience using methods such as growing from seed and cuttings. We are one of only a few nurseries to have its own laboratory for micro propagation, 10 polytunnels of homegrown plants, mist beds, a fog house and a liner house packed with exciting specimens. You’ll see all of these areas on the course. Many of our cuttings and seeds are collected from our nursery and you’ll get the chance to collect a selection of these to work with. You’ll get to grips with exciting plants like the Wollemia Pine, hardy banana, Musa basjoo, Cyperus papyrus, Arundo donax, Lonicera ‘Nitida (an excellent Box alternative), Ceanothus and Lavender to name but a few.

We will give you advice and practical guidance on a range of propagation skills that you can continue to use in your own garden. You’ll be able to take home 3 of your creations to continue the good work. You will also receive 10% discount on all tools purchased on the day too.

Course Day Outline

9:00am:

Registration and Coffee

9:15am – 10:00am:

A short introduction and a tour of the nursery to collect the propagation materials you’ll use

10:00am – 1:00pm

·        Best methods of preparation for beginners

·        Preparation of cuttings

·        An introduction to growing mediums

·        Practical demonstrations & techniques you can do at home

·        Hands on practice with different types of technique, cutting & seed: seed Sowing, winter sowing methods, water propagation & heel cuttings

·        Debrief and questions

1:00pm:

A delicious lunch, wine and refreshments with The Secret Sussex Supper Club

2:00pm:

Take home 3 of your cuttings
