Hedera helix ‘Tres Coupe’
£25.50 incl. VAT
Tiny leaves, compact, neat and well behaved. Nice for draping itself over edges – it softens them. Like all ivies, best in shade.
Hardiness level Green
It’s compact, neat and well behaved, forming tight little mats of dense green carpeting. This variety has the prettiest leaves we’ve seen on any Hedera so that’s why we have it. ‘Tres coupe’ is extra nice because of its softness and delicacy of form and in particular for draping itself over the edges of stuff – it softens and rounds all the hard edges and boundaries and meanders good naturedly into damp crevices and shady nooks. The nicest example we have is growing either side of some rustic steps in a woodland walk where the plant envelops the steps and smothers the timber risers. All we have to do is keep the steps clear. We reckon it’s just the ticket for putting the final detailed touch onto a planting plan, or underplanting a smart collection of special shrubs. Bare soil just won’t do, will it?
As with all plants like this, cut right back from time to time in order to get rid of all the old dead stuff and replace it with nice new fresh stuff. Mowers and strimmers are handy for this sort of job, although to be appropriately proper, one should really do it with your beautifully sharp and well maintained Okatsune Shears...Like all ivies, it is best grown in shade and although this one is indeed special, it won't require any fussing at all. Any old soil will do.
Just so you know, the only other ivy we do (Hedera canariensis) is the biggest leafed and most vigorous of all the ivies
