A hardy, evergreen, slightly pendulous conifer up to 500cms in height and 150cms across. The soft and fluffy juvenile foliage is retained throughout the tree's life. It emerges grey-green, turning a clearer green in the summer, but it is in the autumn and winter that the most amazing reddish and rusty colours develop.
Best position in plenty of space in sun to partial shade. Happy on any moist but well-drained fertile soil. Originating in China and Japan, these plants are related to redwoods and Taxodium.
