A hardy deciduous small tree or large shrub to 2.5m height and width and bright red new growth. In the spring, the new leaves are pinky-red morphing to green in the summer and then an autumnal flame-red.

Best grown with their feet in the shade and head in the sun in well drained, moist neutral to acid soil. Protect from cold and drying winds. Prune lightly for health but never when the sap is rising in the spring. By Cuttings/grafted.
