Run Barns Green 2021 – Supporting Our Community

We were very proud to be the Main Sponsor of Run Barns Green 2021. Guy has competed for many years often running with his brother and with the rest of the family cheering them on. With many fond memories of past runs and the amazing atmosphere generated, supporting the RBG Committee and the village community was something Guy wanted to do for a number of years. “Running and being active outdoors is an integral part of my lifestyle; it helps me clear my mind and maintain my discipline and focus on running the business.” “I have always wanted to support this great local event and promote horticulture to my fellow runners.”

Vernon Jennings, Chairman of the Run Barns Green Committee, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Architectural Plants as our main sponsor. Their close links and understanding of our event has been so refreshing and they have shown tremendous enthusiasm and creativity in how they have approached this partnership which I am sure will be very successful. The new sponsorship with Architectural Plants is very timely as we launch our new Run Barns Green name and logo. The Barns Green Half Marathon has become a very established event in the local area over the last 38 years.”

Very early on the morning of the race we left our nursery with a lorry packed full of plants and set off to build an avenue of Niwaki and Tropical palms to decorate the runners’ start and finish line and embellish the winners’ podium.

Runners from across our company completed in both the 10k and Half Marathon. Our Head of Development, Jay. Garden Design Manager, Debbie and Garden Designer, Amy. Deputy Sales Manager, Florence. Nursery Manager, Abi. Nursery Propagator, Tom. Planting Team Member, Zac. Our Viewscape apprentice, Kaelan. All finished in impressive times – well done team! The green was alive with people enjoying the opportunity to be out and about. There was a funfair, lots of different stalls and steel band music to keep everyone entertained.

The two races were started by local Horsham MP Jeremy Quin. The Half Marathon started at 10am and the 10k at 10.20am. It was so good to see the enthusiasm of all the runners as they got the chance to run again in a proper race after all the delays and cancellations caused by Covid.
