This used to be called Stipa arundinacea and is like a slightly larger version of its better known relative - Stipa tenuissima. Amy - our resident grass expert - thinks that Stipa tenuissima is for the sea side but this is more suitable for inland cottage gardens.
From New Zealand. Like most grasses - any reasonably well drained soil and plenty of light.
They are comparatively short lived grasses and will last around 3-5 years. They have a similar life span to Lavenders.

It really deserves to be grown en masse on fairly well drained soil with lots of light. Plant in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Initially plant about 50cm-ish / 2ft apart to allow them to grow into a bold block of their own in the coming years. It’s comparatively short-lived and will last around 3-5 years. It’s good for in-land gardens.
