Clump forming evergreen from southern and central Chile, developing clumps of 1 x 1m over 5 years with long lasting white, orchid-like flowers in summer on spikes 1.2m or so.

Best in full sun or very light shade. Don't plant in a bog, but otherwise unfussy about soil but not good on chalk. Regular watering increases flowering. Trim out tatty leaves in the spring trimming to the ground if necessary. 'By seed, by us'
