Architectural Plants

Planting by Us & Creative Maintenance

Planting By Us & The Creative Maintenance Department

We have a separate department run by Rob MacKinnon that does planting and Creative Maintenance. The planting's done beautifully and we guarantee the plants for one year (their first year is their crucial year) and what, I hear you ask, is Creative Maintenance? To borrow from Twelfth Night - "Some plants are born architectural, some acquire architecture and some have architecture thrust upon them".

Creative Maintenance is definitely the last bit - the plants have architecture thrust upon them and much more:- Turning a shapeless old rhododendron bush into a beautifully rounded piece of sculpture with all its supporting branch work exposed... exposing the canes and enhancing the shape on a messy old clump of bamboo... removing the hairy coating on the trunk of a Trachycarpus palm to reveal its extraordinary trunk below... removing the old dead leaves off scrappy looking old yucca plants to reveal a picture of verdancy and shapeliness.

The possibilities are marvellous and endless and we can reveal this all to you. Just ask.
